a tribute..
i was bored and decided to write a tribute to a few cars. first has to be my dad's car. well actually, his company's car. whatever. anyway, its a Proton Saga made in 1991-2 (sumwhere around there). till now, i'm astounded by its performance. actually, its down to Protons of about 10 years ago that a mostly made of Mitsubishi parts. this particular car was based on a Lancer and has a Mitsubishi 12-valve 1.3L engine. i do not know its power but its performance is amazing. the acceleration surge is way better but obviously can't beat the speed of the bigger-engined Nissan's of course, but for its engine capacity and age, its amazing how it can outrun some modern cars. the gearbox is rubbish, and so are the pedals (feels like buttons). i can't fit in it too. it can still do 150km/h considering that new cars can do only about 160 or so.
now for my favourite cars. my favourite classic car has to be wat i believe is the most beautiful and sexiest car ever deisgned : the Jaguar E-type from the 60s.
no car can beat it in a beauty contest, or even drag race in fact. my preferred one is the 4.2L 6-cylinder 265hp version. it had independant suspension, meaning it corners like a fly. it is not in production now but i really adore and salute those who spent tons of money and sweat, restoring them.
next is my favourite modern car which is the Ariel Atom 2.
its not available in Singapore but it is an amazing car. faster than most Ferrari (except the Enzo of coz), but tons cheaper. its just a bare chassis with basic stuff that helps the car move. there is one version with a 2.0L 4-cylinder Supercharged Honda engine which is, well, fast! very fast! it may not have cup-holders and air-con, but its the simple engineering that makes it so exciting. u can actually see everything that is working on it: the brakes, suspension, etc. well thats it lah. so tired typing. ciao.
